NOVEMBER 2024 - Barbie marketing presentation
In Film Analysis club, I made a presentation exploring the Barbie movie's marketing techniques and how these techniques allowed the film to be so successful. I focused on 3 marketing techniques that made the Barbie movie stand out in its approach and the impact they had.
JANUARY 2024 - Barbie: A feminist film? (MediaMag article)
I read an article from the Media Magazine which discussed to what extent the Barbie movie could be seen as a feminist film and summarised the article into 5 main points, and noted down important quotes from the article.
23/02/24 - Half term listening
BBC Radio 4 via BBC Sounds
"The Media Show: Prince Harry's dispute with the tabloids - Who's next?"
I listened to this episode during half term and made notes on the topics being discussed. I also noted links with other parts of our course such as the Leveson enquiry and newspaper regualtion. I found this all interesting and relevant, but the topic that I found most interesting to consider was the discussion about Disney and how it may be moving into the gaming industry.
19/03/24 - La Haine presentation
In this week of Film Analysis club, I made a presentation on the French film "La Haine". I summarised the main points and themes of the film (police brutality, structural racism, the cycle of violence within the Parisian suburbs during the 90s) and included references to other sources. I then delved into the context and inspiration of the film - the killings of two young men in Paris/Parisian suburbs shortly before the production and release of the film. Also, to support the link between the context and contents of the film, I found an interview from the Sight and Sound magazine with Mattiue Kassovitz (the director). The powerpoint was shared to the Media Supercurricular club Teams page.
14/05/24 - Postmodernism presentation
In my film analysis club, I made a presentation explaining postmodernism within films, including the common conventions, and I explained how "Deadpool" (2016) could be considered a very postmodern film. At the end of the presentation, I answered questions from peers. The powerpoint was then shared to my Teams page so that my teachers and classmates could access it if desired.
