Previous student's work

I researched previous students' work for inspiration. Here are some that I found interesting:

Website - interactive feature:

This website was filled with intereactive features which often opened into pop ups with playlists, sneak peaks at upcoming scripts, free posters etc. I thought this was a great feature of the website as it made it seem more like an indie and creative website and gave the impression that the website had been made with a lot of care and detail. As my magazine will be launched by an independent publisher, I think using easter egg features like this could be a very good idea. Also, this could certainly appeal to an audience that "likes to be entertained".

Magazine: Coordinated colour scheme

I liked this magazine cover in particular due to the coordination of the colours, the props (flowers), the font used for the main cover line ("Sweet Dahlia")  and overall cohesion. Apart from the black of the masthead, which stands out and may have worked better with a darker shade of the pink, or perhaps white, I think the overall look of the magazine makes it very clear at a first glance that this particular edition of the film magazine is about romance films.

Magazine: Use of B/W

This magazine caught my attention - not only for the intense mode of address, but for the slightly unconventional use of black and white. Usually, magazines would not typically be in black and white, as one of their main aims is to be attention-grabbing. However, this cover uses eye contact as a mode of address to entice the audience. I may choose to use a black and white filter on my photos.
